（五） 酗酒：
1. hit the bottle : to start to drink a lot of alcohol regularly, especially in order to forget your problems
备注： ''hit the bottle'' 是非正式的用法。
例：
When his wife died he hit the bottle again. （老婆死后，他又开始酗酒了。）
My sister's been hitting the bottle a lot lately and her work is starting to suffer. （我姐姐最近酗酒，工作情况越来越糟。）
补充： 类似用法还有 ''take to the bottle'' 等等。
例：
After his divorce he took to the bottle. （离婚后，他开始酗酒。）
He says he's lost too many years to the bottle, and that he's giving up alcohol. （他说他酗酒太多年了，现在正在戒酒。）
2. drown your sorrows : to drink a lot of alcohol with the purpose of getting drunk, in order to forget your problems
例：
After his girlfriend left he spent the evening drowning his sorrows in a local bar. （他那天跟女友分了手，然后在附近的酒吧买醉。）
You can't just sit around day after day drowning your sorrows in whiskey. （你们不能每天就坐在这借酒消愁。）
（六） 酒鬼：
1. alcoholic : someone who drinks too much alcohol and cannot stop
例：
I usually have a drink or two after work, but I don't think I'm an alcoholic. （我每天下班都会喝一两杯，但我认为我不算酒鬼。）
2. drunk : someone who is drunk or who often gets drunk - use this especially about someone you see in a public place such as a street or a bar
例：
A couple of drunks passed out on the sidewalk. （两个醉汉倒在路边。）
I don't like to take the bus at night. It's full of drunks and crazy people. （我晚上不喜欢坐公车。车上都是醉鬼和疯子。）
3. drinker : someone who often drinks a lot of alcohol
例：
heavy drinker (=someone who regularly drinks a lot of alcohol)
Paul and Jane were both heavy drinkers and spent most of their time in the local bar. （保罗和简都是酒鬼，经常流连于附近的酒吧。）
hard drinker (=someone who regularly drinks a lot of alcohol)
He quickly earned the reputation as a hard drinker and hell-raiser. （很快，他就成了个出了名的酒鬼、惹祸精。）
4. drunkard : someone who is drunk very often - used especially in literature
备注： ''drunkard'' 常用于文学作品中。
例：
They were all drunkards, but Arthur was the worst of them all. （他们都是酒鬼，奥瑟是酒鬼中的酒鬼。）
Unfortunately she had married an incurable drunkard. （她时运不济嫁给一个彻头彻尾的酒鬼。）
5. have a drink problem : to be unable to stop the habit of drinking too much alcohol, so that it has a bad effect on your life
备注： ''have a drink problem'' 常用于英式英语中，美式英语中常作 ''have a drinking problem'' 。
例：
My sister has a drink problem but she won't admit it. （我姐姐酗酒，但她自己不这么觉得。）
From everything you tell me, it sounds as if your husband may have a drinking problem. （从你的描述看，你丈夫应该是酗酒。）
6. lush : someone who is often drunk - often used humorously
备注： ''lush'' 常用于美式英语口语中，有点开玩笑的意思。
例：
You'll see her sitting at the bar all day. She's a real lush. （她整天就在酒吧喝酒，真是个大酒鬼。）
What are you drinking, you big lush? （你在喝什么？酒鬼。）
学习提升英语的，还可以试试以下几个方面，我认为还是很有帮助的
1、加强英语的词汇量和语法方面的知识，这是基础。
2、多朗诵一些脍炙人口的英文，最好是会背诵，培养语感。
3、听你喜欢的英语歌曲，还有看欧美电影，保持兴趣的同时学到口语。
4、若有机会的话，跟老外多说英语。比如现在的网上英语学习就可以和外教一对一进行学习和试听。
